For the faithful... Uta proves an exciting new personality — an influencer extraordinaire and powerful rival to the pirates — who serves to bring back Shanks and his Red Hair gang while steering Luffy and his crew on a new course.

Ado and Nakata’s music does, however, make Uta sound like a real pop star, as opposed to the polished but underwhelming songs used in this year’s other musically-themed anime features, like “Belle” or “Inu-Oh.”

The best part about it is you can enjoy it on various levels, even just kicking back and being entranced by the animation itself.

The animation blended a lot of the classic Eiichiro Oda art style with some newer 3D/CGI artwork. The movie had a regal style about it, being flashy and emphasizing the key element of music throughout.
