Florence Vidor is delightful, and Monte Blue excellent. Adolphe Menjou has a smile more eloquent than polysyllables, which makes him eminently eligible for the silent drama, as it's called.

For his second American film, from 1923, Ernst Lubitsch turned a drawing-room farce into bittersweet chamber music-which, aptly, plays out in Vienna.

It is unalloyed bliss to watch The Marriage Circle.

Lubitsch, because of his pictorial instinct, has managed to get along very nicely without excessive words. In acting, The Marriage Circle is most fortunate.
