Critics consensus

“The Lost City doesn't sparkle quite as brightly as some classic treasure-hunting capers, but its stars' screwball chemistry make this movie well worth romancing.”

[Channing Tatum's] energetic and eager to please — virtues he shares with the film.

The Lost City is exactly the kind of throwback rom-com adventure that is elevated from fine to riotous thanks to the presence of Sandra Bullock

Ultimately there is not much to recommend The Lost City beyond a degree of unpretentious good nature, plus the appeal of its stars. But depending on your fondness for Bullock and Tatum, that may be enough to make you feel you haven’t been robbed.

The Lost City works hard at earning laughs, but trades love-connection intimacy for vapid spectacle. What starts out as a charming lark slowly becomes a bit of a bore.
