The Original “Friday the 13th” was no great shakes as horror films go, yet it has managed a part II and part III of diminishing quality, and now comes Joseph Zito’s Friday the 13th—the Final Chapter, which one can only hope is correctly titled.

Perhaps this film wouldn’t be so sickening if it weren’t so well made. But the young people (and others) are all very natural, very ordinary and largely likable, and Joseph Zito’s direction is actually quite dynamic.

Maybe it’s a parable or whatever about how being butchered to the max always gets in the way of young love.

Clues to Tommy's major role here and in the future are fairly obvious from the start... His hobby is fashioning hideous masks. And this is clearly a very heavy plotline indeed. It is also the only original thing about this film directed by Joseph Zito.
