'The Braid' never reckons with or acknowledges the fact that the societal expectations this film concerns itself with uniquely impact each of the women at its core with an uneven pressure.

Colombani pays tribute to the determination of women to overcome obstacles to keep life moving forward; it is inspiring, powerfully familiar, and elegantly made, tied by a traditional symbol of womanhood.

An epic drama... The Braid takes material that could’ve been straightforward and melodramatic and ensures that the final results are realistic and relatable.
