Blanchart keeps the beat steady with a tight rhythm of tension and release, interspersing talky tense bits with bravura action, like a bike ride down the steps of an underground station.

An action movie that's daring, dark, and distinctly wild, Night Call is not to be missed.

By avoiding that limiting conceit, Blanchart gives Night Call an almost classical feel as Mady tries to outwit hardened criminals and belligerent cops and make it to morning alive.

Rather than coming across as John Wick-style superhuman fighters, the characters are desperate, unskilled, opportunist brawlers in a recognisably real, if slightly heightened, world.
