Barrio Boy

There is certainly chemistry between its leads – and the camera is clearly in love with Quique too – but its edit is the film’s biggest hurdle, feeling clunky and actually unfinished.

The storytelling is light-handed and elusive, but the film is full of big emotions and authentic interaction.

Barrio Boy is, at its heart, too thin a concept, pointlessly retelling a familiar story with nothing new to add.
