Pieces

If all this sounds like standard giallo/slasher fare... in fact Simn constructs his film in much the way that the killer recreates his puzzle: taking a bit from here, a bit from there, & stitching all these disparate pieces into a monstrous hybrid.

As an example of sexist, racist sleaze, Pieces is an inadvertently amusing relic of early '80s grindhouse.

Pieces wants to be a fun, funny, cult slasher, and to some extent it is. It tried so hard to cash in on the early slasher craze that it actually ends up being a fun, funny, cult slasher because of how hard it falls on its face.

Makes no real sense at all mainly because everyone involved defies the thin line of reality it could have easily maintained.
