It's heartening to see this kind of inclusivity in a lightweight holiday romance, even if the final product is largely forgettable.

Charmingly low-budget, with a cute story, cutesy chemistry between stars Frampton and Christensen, and cute original songs. It’s just too cute, dammit!

That’s the point of these kinds of movies: create an easy-to-swallow fantasy of romance against a holiday setting. “Merry & Gay” clears that low bar.

Laughter and cheer shall take the audience to a Christmas-themed culmination.
