Critics consensus

“Sadie Sink manages to rise above the schlock in a doomed rock-opera that sadly loses its purpose and steam while rambling to the finish line.”

For all its originality, O’Dessa can’t help but get tangled up in its own mythology, dragged down by a romance that never sizzles.

Is a cliché turned on its head still a cliché? “O’Dessa” will keep you wondering, and that counts for something.

A rock musical like 'O’Dessa' only works if it sufficiently rocks, and 'O’Dessa' somewhat rocks.

It is a lovely, catastrophic, bold mess. Big original choices are the way to go. I would much rather watch something that is extravagant and weird, yet misses the mark, than something that is derivative and dull.
