Funniest when following Rogen and demoted-to-human Reeves adapt to normal life, Good Fortune’s social commentary is smug yet toothless, an off-putting combo.

Good Fortune rests on the universal fondness with which we hold its leading angel, who has the rare knack of being in on the joke while somehow remaining too pure for it.

Good Fortune...is a mildly subversive fable about the yearning for big-time success – and also the kind of medium-budget comedy that...nowadays only exists because someone like Ansari has enough TV clout to bring it into being.

Reeves, looking like his well-known character John Wick here, fits nicely into the role of Gabriel. The best kept secret skillset of the veteran actor is that he doesn’t have to do much to emote on screen, or get a message across.
