A straightforward, entertaining psycho killer thriller without much fluff. However, if you expect that this overall solid debut work offers something more outside the genre, you should lower your expectations.

Though we get a lot of investigative thrillers in Tamil cinema, Por Thozhil is convincing enough to enthral and engage us throughout. It also has an underlying message that's good enough to evoke emotions.

Clever writing and fascinating filmmaking choices in Vignesh Raja's debut compel you to look beyond some of its missteps.

The possibilities are endless, as well as the hope that the next time round, the plot will move beyond smart technique and into the dark recesses of the soul.
