This is a lot of fun -- a girl and her ugly alien movie.

Overly familiar themes and storytelling approaches, culminating in a somewhat uninteresting final act, hold the film back, but it powers along well enough on its unforced adolescent sincerity, personified by Wilson's impressive lead performance.

the goal isn’t really to challenge Alien so much as to illuminate the nature of morality using Alien as a foil.

Brings a modern-day chill to the space-buddy genre.
