Takashi Shimizu's newest film is about a mysterious cassette tape containing a melody. People who hear this melody gradually begin to hum it themselves and become involved in a mysterious incident. What is the mystery behind this melody ?
With Sana, Takashi Shimizu delivers a pleasant horror experience – a film that can satisfy casual audiences and even please the hardened J-horror film.

This is a mainstream Japanese horror film, so the most important thing is seldom the story, it's the scares. So how scary is Sana? Alas, despite being crisply filmed, this a far cry from J-horror's horrific highs.

Sana (ミンナのウタ), 2023 SHIMIZU Takashi, 7/10 stars, a satirical mash up of horror and music film concerning a mysterious tape whose melody drives people mad. Investigation of the tape’s origins reveals its horrible provenance. Weak third act redeemed by pretty and appropriate close.
