Critics consensus

“Despite typically strong work from Maggie Q, Fear the Night is a fairly generic and disappointingly tension-free thriller from writer-director Neil LaBute.”

It's crafty enough, but it's lacking LaBute's usual acid wit and fearless provocations.

Eventually, it becomes hard to tell if the movie and its canned culture clash/battle of the sexes drama is just self-consciously tedious or also hatefully ungenerous.

Bloody, funny, and cathartic, Fear the Night is a wickedly violent showcase for Maggie Q.
