White’s bemused alpha authority carries the day. And this uneven, sometimes sloppy vehicle gets a real boost from Method Man.

Despite his alluring screen presence, Michael Jai White's Trouble Man is too rough around the edges to succeed as a contemporary homage to the kung fu flavored blaxploitation classics its clearly evoking.

Michael Jai White punches, kicks, and monologues his way through Atlanta in Trouble Man. His likable persona and laudable effort at teaching moments unfortunately aren't enough to carry this strained kidnapping mystery.

Michael Jai White has the chops, but Trouble Man trips over its own cheap look, ridiculous story, and lack of humor.
