The Lie: The Murder of Grace Millane

It's devastating. In some ways it felt like a violation... It left me feeling like I had watched a snuff film.

With its extensive use of CCTV footage, The Lie meticulously and thoroughly presents its terrible truth.

If the film's existence in any way speeds up a ban on the so-called "rough sex" defence, and helps to spare another family from having to sit through a trial in which that is deployed, then it will have achieved a great deal.

Helena Coan's not only chillingly recounts the details leading to the death of Grace, the young and vibrant British tourist murdered in Australia, but also is meant to hold a mirror up to a society with a problem of violence towards women.
