Excruciating.

The noisy, mischievous character of Woody Woodpecker isn't for everyone, but this live-action and animated film offers simple messages in a heartfelt package that will likely find a young audience.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Woody Woodpecker, but this chintzy movie made me like him less. It has no charm, no wit, no laughs, no hope.

It’s an improvement over the last feature, and that’s impressive, with the production willing to put in some work to restore cartoon order to the movie, keeping it enjoyable enough to pass.
