Nocturnal

An impressive piece of work ... anchored by a two-step between the smart-mouthed Lauren and her painfully awkward adult chum.

Although its intentional twist on age gaps, sex and gendered dynamics is provocative, Nocturnal can't quite hold the interest for its whole running time - in spite of a brilliant performance from Cosmo Jarvis.

They are selling it hard and the whole film is technically accomplished, but for me the story was glib.

Nocturnal is a well made and heartfelt character study that beautifully focuses on communication, vulnerability, and, most of all, masculinity.
