Playing Brigid, Jodie Comer is remarkable; her essential goodness seems to glow and there’s an almost pearlescent quality to her purity. This is not an enjoyable feature, but Comer’s magnetic presence is reason enough to watch it.

The Death of Robin Hood manages to be gruelling on multiple levels. Hugh Jackman spends the first, unpleasantly gory half-hour murdering a bunch of people and then agonises for the remaining 90 minutes about his atonement.

I think it's an easy film to admire.

The Death of Robin Hood is buoyed by its strong, coherent, and heavily gothic vision, and darker ideas about the ugliness of humanity.
