It’s nothing groundbreaking in terms of queer representation or true cinematic storytelling, but Girls Like Girls is a fun Pride watch.

First-time filmmaker Kiyoko seems content to honor teen romance conventions in a more or less by-the-book tale of first love that has been through enough permutations to feel vaguely workshopped. Still, she's gotten engaging performances from her leads.

I absolutely loved the nostalgic feel of the movie.

Some scenes feel like a music video or Instagram reel – but one you want to watch all the way through.
