"A Merry Little Ex-Mas" may or may not count as a comeback for Silverstone, but it's a reminder of her particular talents, and she makes "Ex-Mas" a tiny little holiday treat.

Predictably, specificity subsides and broader, physical humour takes over, all of it unfunny not only for its lack of originality but for how it forces a mostly adequate cast into outsized cartoon acting that they can’t convincingly pull off.

Some movies are movies. Other movies are cocoa. 'A Merry Little Ex-Mas' is the latter.

The Alicia Silverstone renaissance continues with the former Clueless and Batman & Robin star front and centre in this predictable, but amiable farce.
