Sombras chinas

What’s billed as a comedic thriller isn’t that funny, and the thrills come from the same places that other films have mined before.

Sombras Chinas is like a found-footage film shot through the modern medium of the influencer. They stream everything, and it’s the norm. So the film’s use of the vertical presentation doesn't seem gratuitous or like it’s following a fad.

A smart, strange, and entertaining debut that feels like a genuine discovery—the work of a filmmaker with something to say and the style to say it memorably.

Del Zotto does a great job of holding down a huge lead role, giving her rendition a pinch of satire but really breathing life into this character.
