Isn't quite as wild [as Re-Animator] but it's still Grade-A B-picture horror.

This is, in short, another variant on the hoary horror staple of the monster who feeds on the fears and fantasies lurking at the pit of its victims' psyches, and would be offensive if it weren't so embarrassingly silly.

Jeffrey Combs is SO good here, completely committing to every element of a very demanding role.

This demented tale is sloppily directed, but once it gets going after a stalled start you can't fault its energy and audacity.
