Pom Poko is so delightfully weird, and jam-packed with oddities, that it's never dull, even if it is sometimes a little too disturbing for its own good.

Its ecological concerns, nuance and occasional lyricism place it squarely within the Ghibli oeuvre but not among its masterpieces.

Seek out Pom Poko, embrace its ridiculousness, and witness a bunch of raccoons adapt to life’s hardships by folding and stretching their teabags like a master origamist.

Pom Poko might fly under the radar for most when it comes to the works of Studio Ghibli, but really should be considered one of their best works.
