If Avatar Aang is meant to serve as a proof of concept that this world can work on the big screen, consider that mission finally accomplished.

Nevertheless, it delivers a gratifying cinematic experience to the fanbase, as visually mesmerizing as it is a worthy storytelling contribution to a brilliant fantasy series.

For longtime fans, it is a generous gesture, a pleasurable reassurance that the creative voices stewarding these characters have not lost a beat and kept this world exactly as you remember it.

As with the original series, this is ultimately a film about right and wrong, and what justice looks like in a changing world.
