Rockers is an extraordinarily ambitious film for one that seems so casually put together.

An excellent soundtrack, and an endearingly witty script which digresses through explanations of the Rasta faith and countless idiosyncratic solidarity rituals, make for a delightful piece of whimsy.

Rockers is heavily didactic about the tenets of Rastafarianism, but it's also lighthearted, offering much the same dichotomy reggae music does.

When it comes to Jamaican films powered by rhythmic reggae beats, it’s hard to top 1972’s The Harder They Come. But here’s Rockers carving out its own niche.
