Madueño is a sympathetic lead, and Bang cannily uses mildness as cover for extreme anger. But they are undermined by a scatty plot that won’t be worrying Stieg Larsson or Jo Nesbø any time soon.

A bit tepid until the final ten minutes, the film’s resolution feels incomplete, or rather inequitable to the broader group of victims in the story.

It's a bang-up but overall disappointing finish.

Without anything new to offer, this might be perfectly watchable but it's far from memorable.
