The Enterprise may boldly rove the cosmos, but the people who put this enjoyable series back on track with the third installment should have shunned the temptation to be cosmic.

The film is neither much of a character story nor an action adventure.

It has high adventure, nifty special effects and much good humor, but it also has a wonderful resonance to it.

After years of success at the head of the Trek universe, (Shatner) seemed to think he could do no wrong. Not only did he, but he excelled in being bad in three different roles, as an actor, as a writer, and as a director.
