BANG BANG

Like a lot of other stuff in this movie, it actually transcends the clichés of the genre while acknowledging those clichés as containing kernels of truth.

The washed-up fighter archetype who spits poetry about the demons he now battles has been done to death. Yet it becomes clear those cliches are the point.

Janowitz's script has lots of potential to break free from its trope-filled genre, and has moments of doing so, but if it weren't for the great performances at the forefront, it'd be easy to become disillusioned with the darker parts of the film.

Bang Bang is not about the moments in the ring, but the tougher moments that come after. When the spotlight’s off and the blood has dried, what kind of person will you be?
