A double-dimed Zatoichi remake that’s also a late-’80s remnant of gruesome / goofy aesthetics, "Blind Fury" is easily the friendliest film in which someone has their hand severed at the wrist. It's an analog delight that's more than an afterthought.

...a solid premise that's employed to entertaining (if somewhat forgettable) effect...

This did provide Rutger Hauer with perhaps his most unusual heroic role until Hobo with a Shotgun 22 years later.

Stranger danger! Just because Rutger Hauer says he's blind doesn't mean you should let him put his paws all over your annoying kid's face.
