Baby turns out to be a real no-brainer. The movie even blows the one moment you'd assume couldn't fail -- the first sighting of a brontosaurus. Instead of a moment of quiet awe, the movie gives us the gee-whiz approach of a Godzilla remake.

Most of the budget of "Baby" seems to have gone into the creatures, who nevertheless don't look much better than Gumby.

Baby's faintly reptilian eyes are dead. And with them dies a lot of our belief.

There's a limit to what can be achieved with the Rambaldi/Raponi approach to special effects, and I'm afraid Baby exposes those limits all too plainly.
