Critics consensus

“A manic, overstuffed blend of sci-fi, comedy, and romance, Innerspace nonetheless charms, thanks to Martin Short's fine performance and the insistent zaniness of the plot.”

One of the funniest aspects of Innerspace is how elaborately over-plotted it is.

''Innerspace'' is a classic example of a film that would achieve more if it tried less. But it still is an ambitious comedy made funny by Short's sweet performance...

Innerspace may seem like nothing more than a silly riff on Fantastic Voyage, but in utilizing a rather unique & absurd approach, as well as stunning Oscar-winning visual effects, it manages to become a rather entertaining adventure.
