Critics consensus

“It's far from the most toothless shark thriller, but Great White lacks the killer storytelling instinct necessary to stay afloat.”

A limp survival flick that drags considerably more than it scares.

The film's human characters make for drab company, leaving one with little to do but admire the scenery, waiting for dinnertime.

What distinguishes "Great White" from numerous "Jaws" wannabes is that we do feel an emotional investment about who lives and who becomes chum. It's a promising debut from Wilson.

Great White may not be a groundbreaking or unique film, but it’s made with respect, and that deserves to be reciprocated.
