Eno

Using new generative software, director Gary Hustwit explores Brian Eno‘s creative strategies using a jigsaw puzzle of interview sequences designed to screen in random order, an inspired approach that comes with its own limitations.

Having seen Eno only twice so far, I can vouch that the filmmakers’ technology resulted in two equally engaging and not altogether dissimilar movies: glimpses of the same enigmatic subject through separate facets of a prism.

More than a biographical documentary, Eno emerges as a brilliant and endlessly inspiring creative manifesto.

Eno does much of the work that makes the documentary so riveting...As a speaker, he’s almost as entrancing as his music. He also, like his music, makes smooth work out of complexity.
