Our House

Our House is a slick reinvention of filmmaker Matt Osterman's indie shocker that makes up in visceral intensity and emotional nuance what it lacks in originality.

With sincerity kind of holding everything together, it's dispiriting when Our House becomes more of a rote haunted house movie.

Better to leave the past behind is the message director Scott Burns himself ignores. Trying to improve on a rough-cut original, he fails to account for the ghost in the machine.

It's got a really pleasing stylization to it... I think it's such a high-quality production, a drama [that has] horror elements in all the right places.
