The best-looking studio horror movie since The Empty Man is a coming-out party for its director, Arkasha Stevenson, who's got an eye for images that you don't so much see as feel at a gut level...

If you take into account that we don't need another Omen movie and Immaculate already did all of this better and without the need for a franchise, it's kind of okay and it's well directed. But it is rubbish.

This is a heartfelt, angry film whose exploitation genre beats can’t conceal a core of real hurt, betrayal, accusation, and maybe even—in the suggestion of sisterhood and resistance—hope.

The First Omen is worth your time, especially if you need a quick demon fix on a Friday night.
