Still, while it's disappointing as a mystery, "Who Killed Cock Robin" is effective as the study of a compulsively nosy man who follows his hunches whenever they lead, into some dark places.

At times overly complicated and frustratingly murky, this noir has all the twists and turns right up to a strong and unique ending.

The great irony is that while Wang finds himself in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, and those are never a bad thing, in the end "Who Killed Cock Robin?" proves to be a big ol' shaggy-dog story.

Emulating such classic thrillers as Blow-Up and The Conversation, Who Killed Cock Robin soon becomes entangled in a web of contrived mysteries and implausible coincidences.
