Mrs. Fang

It's a simple, cumulatively shattering record of life as we rarely see it captured in narrative or documentary cinema.

As always in Wang's work, Mrs. Fang evinces an unobtrusive structuralism and ability to distill insight from seemingly innocuous occurrences.

Especially because we know so little about the woman herself, she is practically all of us, as death will come knocking on all our doors sooner or later.

Perhaps the most unromantic portrait of egress ever committed to film.
