The Treatment is relentlessly sad in tone, utterly vile in content, and brilliantly effective in delivery.

Horribly convincing performances add exploitative heft, while Johan Van Essche's production design makes the Boschian hell seem all too real.

The Treatment brought me close to a panicked run for the cinema door on a number of occasions, but I held steady through this compelling and horrifying police search for a Belgian paedophile.

Van Rampelberg gives an enthralling performance.
