Pimped

The two leads, who like so many young Australian actors these days have made their names in American TV series, are utterly, creepily convincing...

A mesmerising psychological noir thriller in which a one night stand turns sour; and that's just the start.

This is, at its core, a rape revenge film, and while Pimped is co-written by a woman, there's a distinctly masculine perspective to this story, making it a muddled affair that wants to have its cake and voraciously eat it too.

This could have been intriguing if the film's ideas were clearer. But they aren't. ... Mystery and ambiguity can be gripping and exciting onscreen, but as I watched Pimped I mainly felt bored and annoyed.
