Surface similarities to Groundhog Day are relegated to background noise, thanks to the crisp writing and the nihilistic bite of the humour.

A philosophical comedy that is not afraid to aim the odd joke below the belt or, as resolution looms, to give in to sentimentality.

The film may feel a little frivolous at times, and never attempts to go too far with its premise. Even so, Palm Springs is a movie that’s a delight to get stuck inside for a while.
