Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare is the kind of film which opens up spaces and dialogue around difficult topics, and raises the feminist bar while doing so: give it many ‘chamakte sitare’ already.

A taboo-busting assault on an industry which has traditionally been circumspect when it comes to female sexuality.

The movie’s climax may also seem a bit hurried and choppy, but the journey until there is eventful and deeply satisfying. Make sure to make this your weekend watch.

Though these characters have great many flaws, the spirit and skills of the leading ladies playing them ensure we buy into its disjointed narrative.
