Due West

On the surface, "The Odyssey" and Texas director Evan Miller's "Due West" have little in common...But both are, in their own way, brutally effective, and involve a harrowing journey, though the monsters in "Due West" are more of the human variety.

Much as Texas should be ashamed of what it does to real-life women like the Woman, it should be proud of the filmmakers that told her story.

Co-writers Miller and Hardy Janson resist the urge to pack the screenplay with heavy-handed lessons or politics.

Adrianne Palicki’s raw, powerful performance anchors a terrific cast of notable Texas actors. Indie filmmaking at its best.
