The Out-of-Towners jogs doggedly on the treadmill of comedy, working up a sweat but not getting much of anywhere.

It's one thing when a comedy thinks it's funny, but quite another when it knows it's not. Truly, there is no more uncomfortable film to watch.

...a decent-enough endeavor that, although consistently entertaining, never quite becomes the classic that one might’ve anticipated.

The film has its moments, but Martin and Hawn seem held back, imprisoned by the dumb mechanics of the Murphy’s Law scenario.
