Critics consensus

“Like a cold treat on a hot day, Scrapper delivers two scoops of a sweet father-daughter dramedy best consumed when in need of a hug.”

Inspired by Taika Waititi’s Boy, it’s otherwise entirely different: a bright black comedy with endearingly rough edges, much like its characters.

Harris Dickinson is wonderful as a deadbeat dad in this working-class father-daughter film.

Scrapper refuses to be pigeonholed as another dreary story about working-class life. Grief has hope, youth holds the keys to everything.

An amalgam of Aftersun and The Florida Project. However, it doesn't reach the sadness and emotion of the former, nor the hilarity of the latter, thus placing itself in the middle ground between the two. [Full Review in Spanish]
