Critics consensus

“A feel-good underdog story loosely rooted in real events, Bank of Dave may not be the most memorable movie of its type, but it's got sweetness and charm to spare.”

More unsubtly crowd-pleasing, Burnley-based ebullience, which gets by on its unimpeachably virtuous message — and a gloriously garrulous performance from the always-reliable Rory Kinnear.

Even if the movie is about one small win, there’s a sedate pleasure in seeing it play out, especially knowing a version of it happened in real life.

A spirited and cheerful movie.

None of this is terribly surprising dramatically, but Bank of Dave sucks you in.
