A very derivative and repetitive horror movie with pieces of better films you've seen before.

Despite his commitment to the genre, what Stuckmann seems to have forgotten is that the magic of found footage comes in the moments where you’re forced to ruminate on the grainy shots of a shadowy figure in the background.

A promising debut that stumbles in its final act, but its pseudo-documentary and found-footage sequences make Shelby Oaks a suitably creepy calling card.

While Shelby Oaks offers a creative, compelling, and unsettling story that is initially well-constructed, the film suffers at times from uneven pacing, as well as an anticlimactic final act.
