Two rules: don't show me your monster and don't explain it, because whatever you say is going to be silly. They broke both rules.

It's a tough balance to strike and I don't think the sci-fi part works as well as [the romance]. The two [actors] have a lot of chemistry and look great together, the film looks great, and the score is great.

The special effects are quite good, but “The Gorge” doesn’t scale the goofy heights in a rollercoaster ride way that it thinks it does, stalling out with a hackneyed ending that makes you shrug your shoulders and want to move on to something better.

The Gorge is proof that even with a talented cast and a massive budget, you can still dig yourself into a hole. Or, perhaps, a gorge.
