Critics consensus

“A formally refreshing homage to Agatha Christie, Inspector Sun serves as a reasonably diverting and suitably light whodunit for the younger set.”

There’s plenty of double-crossing, madcap chases and falling-out-of-airplane action, some of it reasonably entertaining.

A giddy old-school serial adventure romp that will introduce kids to the wonders of vintage cinematic detectives.

While sometimes grating, the film is always appealing, with pleasing details, down to its Art Deco end titles.

Based on a 2013 award-winning screenplay by then UCLA student Rocco Pucillo, this 1930s-set combination of A Bug's Life and Zootopia offers up an Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery.
